Far Isles BC
A medieval research and re-creation society

Frequently Asked Questions

How did this group form?
We discovered that there were other medieval-research groups, specifically, Far Isles Medieval Society in the United Kingdom. As some of us wanted to explore the Middle Ages in further depth, this was our opportunity to try something a little different. As the laws are different between our two countries, we have had to register as a non-profit society in British Columbia, Canada; hence we are affiliated with, rather than a sub-group of, Far Isles Medieval Society.

Where is this group physically located?
Currently, most of our members live on Vancouver Island in B.C., Canada.

How is this group different than the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. (S.C.A.)?
We have a greater focus on research, and therefore the guilds are more central. We also have a smaller focus on nobility: our kings and other nobles are elected, and are not "ruling" by right of arms.

How do I join?
First read through all of our pages in the information section, and then, if you do not already have a contact within the group, email Maeve.
